We were on our way back to the car, when Miss Z fell over and grazed her knees. She immediately started screaming and crying uncontrollably. I decided to carry her to the car. As I carried her in my arms, all the while she continued sobbing, I was starting to feel really tired. It was hot, we'd walked a lot and the girls had been very difficult and really tried my patience all day. A middle-aged couple walked towards us and they smiled at me. As they walked past, the woman said to me: "You're doing a good job, mum!". A few words, spoken by a complete stranger. But they really made my day! It reminded me of how powerful language is. How important it is to show kindness and empathy. So whatever kind of day you're having... you're doing a good job, mum!
